Early Life and Education
James Earl Carter, Jr. was born on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia. Political Career

In 1976, Carter was elected President of the United States. He defeated incumbent President Gerald Ford in a close election.
Presidency
Carter's presidency was marked by a number of significant achievements. He successfully negotiated the Camp David Accords, which led to a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt.
